James H. Powell, PhD

James_REV001Dr. Powell has been a licensed California clinician for over 29 years and also maintains a license in the state of Idaho.  He has more than 30 years experience working with young adults, adolescents and their families.  In addition to an ongoing private practice, he was certified in the State of California as a Group Home Administrator and spent many years as a youth sports coach.  Since 2005, Dr. Powell has been an advisor for a non-profit foundation dedicated to serving families with children in crisis.  Dr. Powell has served as an Administrator for a residential program for young adults, a Clinical Director for a North Idaho wilderness program, and adolescent neuropsychiatric center, a therapeutic boarding school, and an adjudicated adolescent services program.  Currently, Dr. Powell is the Clinical Director of Benchmark Transitions in Redlands, CA where he continues to operate his private practice.

Brandi M. Elliott

Brandi_REV001Brandi Elliott has over 15 years experience working with at-risk adolescents.  She spent ten years at a California therapeutic boarding school in various direct care positions, including seven years as the Director of the middle school.  In addition to assisting in a television series as a media script consultant, she has consulted with and supported numerous therapeutic programs with start-up operations, risk management, admissions, marketing strategies and program development.  Since 2005 she has served in an advisory capacity for a non-profit foundation dedicated to serving families with children in crisis.  Through her extensive civic affiliations, Brandi has developed and delivered drop out programs, and mentoring services; she has served on scholarship and advisory boards, as well as accreditation and marketing committees.  Currently, Brandi is the Admissions and Marketing Director for Northwest Academy in Idaho.

Tauni Aikin

Tawny_REV001Tauni Aikin has as been working with and delivering risk management services to schools and programs for at-risk adolescents, young adults and the elderly since 1997.  She has worked in developing and implementing Risk Management Programs, Occupational Safety & Health Programs (OSHA), systems for incident reporting/tracking, Safety Committees, emergency preparedness and response and quality improvement and assurance related issues.  Additionally, she serves as a consultant for insurance professionals in loss control matters.  Her experience as a certified Administrator with California Community Care Licensing makes her an effective liaison with licensing and accreditation regulators regarding new and existing license and compliance issues.  She is certified as a HIPAA Professional and HIPAA Security Specialist.  As an authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer, Tauni brings this important component to Risk Management Workshops and training sessions that she develops and facilitates.
